The hard cutting method means that during the die-cutting process, the surface of the knife and pressure roller is firmly in contact, making the die-cutting knife more prone to wear. The soft cutting method involves covering the surface of the pressure roller with a layer of engineering plastic. When die-cutting, the cutter can perform a certain degree of cutting, which can protect the cutter and ensure complete cutting, but the plastic layer needs to be replaced regularly.

Due to the continuous rotation of the rollers during the operation of the circular die-cutting machine, its production efficiency is relatively high among all types of die-cutting machines. However, die-cutting boards need to be bent into curved surfaces, which is cumbersome and expensive, and technically difficult. Therefore, circular die-cutting machines are often used for mass production.
